We are looking for enthusiastic, communicative and reliable Floor Assistants to join our Front of House team at V&A East.
About the Role
Floor Assistants work across all front‐of‐house functions, including gallery spaces, retail, public programming, membership, ticketing and events. They maintain an excellent standard of visitor care and safety, ensuring all visitors feel welcome, comfortable and included at our sites. Floor Assistants champion V&A East's values and represent the organisation as it establishes itself as a leading cultural hub. They focus on upholding the high standards of the visitor experience and visitor safety, and provide opportunities for training and professional development. Working hours are Monday‐Sunday, 8:00‐22:00. Weekend and evening work is required. Overtime opportunities may be available.
Responsibilities
- Provide visitor care and safety in gallery spaces, retail, public programmes, membership, ticketing and events.
- Support the welcoming of visitors, including providing guidance and enhancing overall experience.
- Assist with promotion of exhibitions, displays and retail items.
- Work closely with café operators and support retail pop‐up shop.
- Collaborate with the wider Operations & Commercial team to deliver a successful visitor welcome.
- Help build V&A East for and by the local communities of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Proactive self‐starter, capable of problem‐solving and working independently.
- Effective collaborator within a team.
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for visitor interaction.
- Experience working with customers or visitors, including university, voluntary, paid or unpaid roles, is desirable.
- Residency or significant lived experience in Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets or Waltham Forest (preferred).
