Role Summary
The V&A is undertaking a two‑year project to review our stored collections, improving documentation, care and accountability, re‑organising off‑site and on‑site storage, and reviewing long‑term loans. We are recruiting a fixed‑term Collections Storage Officer to form part of a small project team, working alongside specialist teams from across the V&A.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out collections storage‑related activities across multiple V&A London sites and off‑site stores.
- Supervise and work alongside external contractors to undertake object movement and transport as part of storage reorganisation work.
- Undertake object handling and packing, ensuring objects are packed and stored in accordance with collections care standards.
- Oversee object location control and accountability.
- Manage and prioritise multiple tasks across sites, traveling to off‑site stores.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of practical work with a museum collection or archive, including object handling.
- Experience using a collections management system or digital asset management system.
- Ability to lift and carry, work comfortably at height, and operate in a museum store environment.
- Significant interpersonal skills and flexibility to work across sites.
