This position serves as the Chief, Engineering Service at the VA Central Western Massachusetts Health Care System, Leeds, MA, with responsibilities including Maintenance and Repair, Utility Plant Operations, Energy Management and Conservation, Safety, Disaster Preparedness, Vehicle Fleet, Grounds, Capital Planning, and Construction Project Management across multiple facilities including outlying Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Engineering Program, including planning, staffing, budgeting, and project supervision.
- Develop policies, procedures, and goals for engineering services and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Act as a technical advisor and participate in strategic planning and policy development.
- Oversee budget formulation, justification, and execution, maintaining awareness of financial resources.
- Research and analyze engineering issues, providing expert advice on compliance with codes and standards.
- Lead special projects and initiatives to improve engineering operations and facility management.
- Provide technical guidance on complex engineering problems and participate in national VA engineering initiatives.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor\’s degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience and licensure as a Professional Engineer or Architect.

Physical Requirements: Work involves typical office environment with outdoor work in all weather conditions, some physical effort required.
