V7 turns human knowledge into trustworthy AI, powering products that solve our hardest problems. Our platform lets customers build no-code AI workflows that solve knowledge work with V7 Go, and leverage expert humans to improve frontier AI model knowledge with V7 Darwin. V7 were recently ranked No 1 in Sifted’s top B2B companies for 2024 and raised a $33m Series A including the AI Fund @ Radical Ventures. We are backed by some of the best minds in AI, from Ashish Vaswani (Invented Transformers, the basis of GPT) Oriol Vinyals (Google Deepmind and Gemini co-lead), Christian Szegedy (X.ai) and AI leadership at Amazon, X, Isomorphic, and Google. V7 is used to power AI’s rollout at Fortune 500 organisations including Sony, Boston Scientific and Genentech.

Software Engineers at V7 ensure that complex operations involving visual data can be performed smoothly through a high fidelity web interface at large scale – think applying foundation models like Gemini Pro to enable complex analyses across large financial documents. Our front-end is supported by highly talented designers who obsess over polish and want to build a complex AI product that feels as simple as using your favourite tools, like Linear, Notion, and Figma. Our back-end development is world-class, full of experienced engineers, and not short of challenges. The Staff Engineer role will hold significant influence over the engineering team, as well as shaping the trajectory of the company's future in close collaboration with the Founders.

Some of the responsibilities you will tackle are:

  • Enable foundation models to be applied to multimodal data at scale
  • Build delightful UX for managing data, so that humans + AI can work in tandem on hard problems
  • Ship to production multiple times a day, working in tandem with PMs/Designers to solve user problems

Our BE is in Elixir (Erlang) with Phoenix, and FE is Vue.js. Our deep learning framework of choice is Pytorch. We don’t expect you to know Pytorch. If you don’t know Elixir, that’s ok, but you’ll have to learn it. (some of our team members had no Elixir experience when they started and had no problem learning it).

Requirements:

  • A degree in computer science or similar.
  • 7+ years as an engineering leader.
  • You thrive most during the initial years of a company's inception, particularly relishing the dynamics of small team environments.
  • Customer-centricity is paramount.
  • Engineers are integral to every stage of the delivery process, necessitating a strong product focus.
  • We value individuals who are passionate about their craft and are equally invested in addressing product and technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in building complex front end applications - with Vue or React is a plus.
  • Experience with functional programming would be a huge plus.
  • Fluent in English.

What’s in it for you:

  • Top 15% quartile equity options plan through an EMI scheme
  • Private Healthcare via Vitality for our UK employees, or equivalent allowance outside of UK
  • Pension contribution through Nest
  • £800 Learning and Development budget
  • Apple MacBook suitable for your role
  • Monthly wellbeing and mental health budget via ThanksBen
  • Personalised benefits platform via Thanks Ben
  • Enhanced Parental Leave
  • 30 days holiday, plus an additional day for every year of service with V7, plus Bank Holidays on top
  • 4-day company-wide and 4 day departmental retreats in stunning locations
  • Hybrid working with flexibility, role dependent
  • Temporary work from anywhere for one month in the calendar year
  • Paid tickets, accommodation, and travel to relevant conferences, nationally or internationally (NeurIPS, ICCV, CVPR, ...) to expand your network & knowledge during normal times
