Working Patterns:
We are seeking experienced Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) at 66kV and 132kV to support the safe and efficient delivery of transmission and distribution projects across Wales. Working within a dynamic project delivery environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety rules, managing HV operations, and supporting the successful execution of substation and grid connection works.
Responsibilities
- Act as SAP for 66kV and 132kV networks, carrying out switching, issuing of safety documents, and ensuring all works are undertaken in accordance with electrical safety rules.
- Oversee HV operations during construction, commissioning, and maintenance of substations and associated infrastructure.
- Lead and supervise operational teams, contractors, and third parties to ensure safe systems of work.
- Support project delivery by liaising with National Grid, DNOs, and client representatives.
- Provide technical input into project planning, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all activities are executed to the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Requirements
- Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status at 66kV and/or 132kV, with appropriate authorisations.
- Extensive experience in HV switching, safety documentation, and managing safe systems of work.
- Strong background in substation construction, commissioning, or O&M within transmission and distribution projects.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety legislation, and National Grid / DNO safety rules.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Wales.
