Job Title: Lead Protection & Control Design Engineer
Location: Middlesbrough or Blackburn
Salary: Β£60,000
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Patterns: Hybrid
Responsibilities
- To manage, and oversee, all aspects of design (from outline to detail) during the project life including, but not limited to, design, planning, approval, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
- To act as a Customer Side HV/MV Project Electrical Design Engineer for wide and challenging projects in the North of England, initially based in Blackburn and/or Middlesbrough.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in plant specification, P&C, AISs/GISs and 33/66/132kV substation layout.
Requirements
- Hold an HNC or Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) preferably with a bias towards Power Engineering.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Low Voltage & High Voltage Electrical Principles and theory.
- Understand Distribution network design including some knowledge of volt drop calculations, earth loop impedance calculations and protection would be advantageous.
- Have knowledge of electrical engineering design software and practices. (e.g. ETAP, Dig Silent, SafeGrid & Trimble Power)
- Have a particular interest in β Design & Construction of High Voltage Private Networks, Grid Support Generation technologies incl. Battery Energy Storage Systems, Gas Peaking & Grid Scale Solar Projects, Implementing Fuel Cell technologies into the Private Distribution networks, Large Private Wire Distribution network development and management, High Voltage Protection & control Together with automation of Network assets
- Be self-driven and can work under pressure to meet relevant business/regulatory targets.
- Be able to cope with high volumes of work in a productive manner.
- Have a customer facing attitude and collaborative mindset.
- Be flexible and adaptable in their approach.
- Have good team working and interpersonal skills.
- Have excellent IT skills and demonstrate good analytical reasoning in particular MS Office software.
- Have excellent communication skills and be well organised.
