Job Title: Lead Protection & Control Design Engineer

Location: Middlesbrough or Blackburn

Salary: £60,000

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Patterns: Hybrid

To manage, and oversee, all aspects of design (from outline to detail) during the project life including, but not limited to, design, planning, approval, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
To act as a Customer Side HV/MV Project Electrical Design Engineer for wide and challenging projects in the North of England, initially based in Blackburn and/or Middlesbrough.
The ideal candidate will have experience in plant specification, P&C, AISs/GISs and 33/66/132kV substation layout.

Hold an HNC or Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) preferably with a bias towards Power Engineering.
Demonstrate a good understanding of Low Voltage & High Voltage Electrical Principles and theory.
Understand Distribution network design including some knowledge of volt drop calculations, earth loop impedance calculations and protection would be advantageous.
Have knowledge of electrical engineering design software and practices. (e.g. ETAP, Dig Silent, SafeGrid & Trimble Power)
Have a particular interest in – Design & Construction of High Voltage Private Networks, Grid Support Generation technologies incl. Battery Energy Storage Systems, Gas Peaking & Grid Scale Solar Projects, Implementing Fuel Cell technologies into the Private Distribution networks, Large Private Wire Distribution network development and management, High Voltage Protection & control Together with automation of Network assets
Be self-driven and can work under pressure to meet relevant business/regulatory targets.
Be able to cope with high volumes of work in a productive manner.
Have a customer facing attitude and collaborative mindset.
Be flexible and adaptable in their approach.
Have good team working and interpersonal skills.
Have excellent IT skills and demonstrate good analytical reasoning in particular MS Office software.
Have excellent communication skills and be well organised.
