The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading international contractor in the appointment of a Senior Commercial Manager to join a major data centre programme in Finland. This is a senior commercial leadership role with responsibility across a portfolio of projects, overseeing commercial performance, risk management, reporting and team leadership across a major live construction programme. Working closely with senior operational leadership and project teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in protecting margin, driving commercial standards and supporting the successful delivery of high-value projects.

The role would suit an experienced Senior Commercial Manager or Commercial Lead with a strong contractor background and a track record of leading commercial teams across large-scale construction, industrial, infrastructure, mission-critical or technically complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Oversee commercial reporting, forecasting, cash management and cost control across the portfolio
  • Review, negotiate and manage contractual obligations with clients, consultants and subcontractors
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies where required
  • Support tendering, procurement and contract negotiation activities
  • Drive margin protection through effective management of change, variations and entitlement recovery
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration and supply chain commercial management
  • Support dispute avoidance and resolution activity where required
  • Ensure commercial governance, controls and reporting standards are maintained across all projects
  • Mentor and develop commercial team members, supporting capability growth and succession planning

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience operating as a Commercial Manager, Senior Commercial Manager or equivalent within a major contractor environment
  • Strong track record delivering commercial outcomes across large-scale construction, industrial, infrastructure, mission-critical or complex building projects
  • Extensive knowledge of contract administration, commercial management, risk mitigation and financial reporting
  • Experience managing commercial teams across multiple projects or major programmes
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially astute with the ability to operate effectively at senior level

Desirable

  • Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution such as RICS or CIOB
  • Experience delivering projects within sectors such as data centres, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, commercial construction or industrial developments
  • Familiarity with digital commercial systems and reporting platforms
