We are supporting a leading international construction contractor delivering major projects across Europe. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a high-performing project team in Germany. This is a key commercial leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual performance of a major construction project. The successful individual will play an important role in driving commercial outcomes, managing project risk, supporting operational teams and ensuring robust commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

The role would suit an experienced Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Commercial professional with experience delivering large-scale construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of the project from commencement through to final account
  • Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment and associated commercial reporting
  • Monitor project costs, forecasts and cash flow performance
  • Support procurement activities and subcontract package management
  • Review and administer contract obligations and commercial risk
  • Manage variations, compensation events, claims and contractual entitlements
  • Maintain accurate project records and supporting commercial documentation
  • Prepare and negotiate interim and final accounts
  • Support project delivery teams in achieving commercial objectives
  • Ensure contractual compliance across all project activities
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead, mentor and support members of the commercial team
  • Promote best practice and consistency across commercial processes
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
  • Collaborate closely with project and operational leadership teams
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of commercial systems and procedures
Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience within a commercial or quantity surveying function
  • Experience working for a main contractor or large construction organisation
  • Proven experience delivering major construction projects
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement and commercial management
  • Experience managing project financial performance, forecasting and reporting
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
  • Professional membership or chartership is advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced project environment
