We are seeking an experienced and visionary Electrical Technical Director to lead the electrical design function for a dynamic and fast-growing consultancy specialising in data centre design. This is a pivotal leadership role, where you will be responsible for shaping the technical direction of projects, leading high-performance teams, and ensuring the delivery of world-class electrical design solutions for mission-critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight on all electrical design aspects of data centre projects across EMEA and beyond.
- Act as the lead technical authority for electrical engineering within the business.
- Develop and maintain design standards, QA processes, and innovation initiatives to ensure technical excellence and consistency.
- Collaborate closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
- Review and sign off on designs, reports, and specifications to ensure compliance with local and international standards.
- Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level engineers within the electrical design team.
- Represent the consultancy at client meetings, industry events, and technical workshops.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends within the data centre and mission-critical infrastructure sector.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Chartered Engineer status (CEng) strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical design, with significant exposure to data centre or mission-critical environments.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex projects from concept through to completion.
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, EN, IEC, ASHRAE, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Experience managing and mentoring technical teams in a consultancy or engineering firm.
