The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor with anywhere between 1-3 years experience to join a well-established specialist contractor delivering passive fire protection and retrofit projects across the UK.

You will be working under supervision of the Commercial Manager, and apply your existing knowledge to the Fire Protection projects assigned to you to drive commerical performance.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of project profitability from inception through to final account.

You'll work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered efficiently while maintaining strong commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of multiple live construction projects.
  • Prepare valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Identify, price and negotiate project variations.
  • Procure and manage subcontractors, including payment approvals.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow.
  • Produce accurate commercial reports and forecasts.
  • Maximise project profitability through effective cost control and value engineering.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial support and guidance to operational teams throughout project delivery.

About You

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Experience with valuations, variations and subcontractor management.
  • A good level of understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting abilities.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
