The role is a field-based position responsible for servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and small works installation of fire alarm systems across commercial, healthcare, education, and public sector sites in Reading, West London, and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on a range of fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Complete small works installations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Commission fire alarm systems where required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
  • Produce accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Provide technical advice and support to customers on-site.
  • Participate in an on-call rota when required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer, Fire Alarm Installation Engineer, Fire & Security Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good understanding of BS 5839 standards.
  • Experience carrying out both service and small works activities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • FIA, Zzeus (or similar) training would be advantageous, but training can be provided post‑probation.
