V7 turns human knowledge into trustworthy AI, powering products that solve our hardest problems. Our platform lets customers build no-code AI workflows that solve knowledge work with V7 Go, and leverage expert humans to improve frontier AI model knowledge with V7 Darwin. V7 was recently ranked No 1 in Sifted’s top B2B companies for 2024 and raised a $33m Series A including the AI Fund @ Radical Ventures. We are backed by some of the best minds in AI, from Ashish Vaswani (Invented Transformers, the basis of GPT), Oriol Vinyals (Google Deepmind and Gemini co-lead), Christian Szegedy (X.ai) and AI leadership at Amazon, X, Isomorphic, and Google. V7 is used to power AI’s rollout at Fortune 500 organisations including Sony, Boston Scientific and Genentech.
Software Engineers at V7 ensure that complex operations involving AI – think applying foundation models like Gemini Pro to enable complex analyses across large financial documents - are performed reliably and efficiently at scale. The Backend Engineer role holds significant influence, shaping the trajectory of the company's future in close collaboration with the Founders.
Some of the challenges you will tackle at V7 are:
- Enabling foundation models to be applied to multimodal data at scale.
- Helping to scale our platform to meet challenging multi-tenant usage patterns.
- Building and maintaining a rich suite of APIs to power all of our internal systems and customer-facing products.
- Shipping to production multiple times a day, working closely with Product and Design to solve customer problems.
Ideally you will have:
- Strong experience as a Backend Engineer working on a technical product.
- Experience working with databases (we use Postgres and Redis).
- Good system design skills.
It would also be great if you have:
- Experience with functional programming.
- Familiarity with Elixir is a plus, but other languages like Scala, GoLang, Node.js, Haskell, Clojure, and F# are also great.
- Infrastructure management experience at scale; ideally you should be comfortable using AWS and Terraform.
- An understanding of queue management and observability.
- Experience with orchestration tools like Docker.
- Knowledge of GenAI and prompt engineering.
This role is likely to be a great fit if you:
- Are truly excited by, and thrive in, the initial years of a company's inception, particularly relishing the dynamics of small team environments.
- Want to work as part of a small, multi-disciplinary team and collaborate closely with others.
- Place the customer at the heart of everything you do. Engineers are integral to every stage of the delivery process, necessitating a strong product focus.
- Value individuals who are passionate about their craft and are equally invested in addressing product and technical challenges.
- Work in English with ease (it's our company language).
This might not be the right role if you:
- Enjoy larger organisation structures and only staying within your area of expertise.
- Want a traditional large team setup, with a predictable roadmap, clearly scoped out tickets provided for you, and so on.
- Prefer a slower pace. We're tackling real problems for our customers today, so we need to move quickly.
What’s in it for you:
- A salary between £90,000 and £160,000 depending on your skills and experience.
- Top 15% quartile equity options plan through an EMI scheme.
- Work with a team named as LinkedIn’s No2 top startup in the UK in 2023 and 8th on Sifted’s top 100 fastest growing startup UK/I list 2024.
- Private Healthcare via Bupa.
- 30 days paid holiday with an additional day for each year of service.
- Learning and Development budget.
- Monthly wellbeing and mental health budget.
- Personalised benefits platform via Thanks Ben.
- Enhanced parental leave.
- 4-day company-wide and 4-day departmental retreats in stunning locations.
- Hybrid working with flexibility.
- Temporary work from anywhere for one month in the calendar year.
- Paid tickets, accommodation, and travel to relevant conferences, nationally or internationally (NeurIPS, ICCV, CVPR, ...) to expand your network & knowledge during normal times.
- Apple hardware provided plus a budget for home office equipment.
