The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

V3 are working on behalf of a family run Engineering business based in central Portsmouth. We are looking for an experienced Manager to oversee and manage Engineering projects from start to finish. These are mainly Marine projects but structural steel too.

The successful candidate will supervise jobs for the welders/fabricators/machinists and arrange the staff to site to complete the work. This would involve:

  • Quotations
  • Drawings
  • Purchase ordering
  • Overseeing jobs in progress
  • Quality inspection

The manager would also maintain levels of stock - metal and welding consumables, PPE, machine/equipment maintenance and general health and safety. They would have the ability to read, understand and break down engineering drawings.

Ideally, they would have previous experience in overseeing large projects from the initial tendering and quoting stage, to design consultation and managing the whole project from start to finish.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Estimating and quoting for work
  • Answering customer enquiries by phone, email, and face to face
  • Proficient with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and BS EN 1090
  • Experience of working to high health and safety standards (CHAS, ConstructionLine, SafeContractor)
  • IT competence (Excel, Word, data entry, Outlook as a basic; Project management and CAD advantageous)
  • Strong leadership
  • Able to multitask
  • Attend meetings with high profile clients
  • Proactive and driven individual
  • Assisting the Engineering manager with sourcing of new work/projects and tendering process

Must hold a valid driving licence.

Other advantageous skills but not essential:

  • Welding inspection/competence or RWC qualification
  • SMSTS qualification
  • Project Management experience
  • Crane and Forklift operator
