Overall Purpose of The Job:
The Fleet Training Manager is responsible for the overall implementation and supervision of all training activities related to assigned client's Cruises, ensuring the alignment of company objectives, client expectations, and regulatory compliance. The role ensures that all shipboard training programs, crew development initiatives, and safety-related learning activities are effectively delivered, monitored, and continuously improved to maintain the highest professional and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities And Tasks:
- Oversee the overall implementation and supervision of the client's Training objectives and functions.
- Implement all training programs and policies as per company and client requirements.
- Ensure alignment of all training activities with the V.Group Management System (VMS).
- Management of fleet trainers, including rotations, logistics and reporting.
- Record and maintain accurate logs of all training conducted within the Training Department.
- Supervise, mentor, and support client's Fleet Trainers.
- Conduct performance reviews and ensure trainers meet defined quality and delivery standards.
- Design and implement structured training plans for onboard trainers.
- Track and report on training compliance levels across the client's fleet.
- Develop, review, and continually improve Shipboard Emergency Operations, training matrices, and emergency team drills.
- Create, update, and maintain training materials that meet both company and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training courses and recommend updates for continuous improvement.
- Engage with subject matter experts to enhance technical accuracy and relevance of content.
- Submit reports to the Head of Learning and Development detailing onboard activities, training completions, and identified needs.
- Maintain accurate training records, statistics, and progress summaries for internal and client reporting through Shipsure.
- Coordinate with training centers, manning offices, and external providers for scheduled sessions.
- Work collaboratively with client representatives and onboard leadership teams to ensure all training aligns with operational needs.
- Advise & maintain the company Learning Management System (LMS) (Ocean Learning Platform – OLP) for crew e-learning.
- Ensure training records are correctly uploaded and synchronized between OLP and ShipSure databases.
- Support the development of digital learning tools and blended learning initiatives (classroom, online, and simulation).
- Identify training gaps through feedback, audits, and performance reviews; propose corrective actions.
- Undertake additional special projects or assignments as directed by the head of learning and development or client.
80% Assigned client's Cruises, 20% Other Clients – With regular ship visits to be conducted throughout the year.

Essential:
- Cruise ship experience - Deck or Engine.
- Proven experience in Learning & Development or Fleet Training within the cruise or maritime sector.
- Strong understanding of STCW, ISM, and SMS-based training frameworks.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience managing multicultural teams.
- Understanding in LMS platforms and Microsoft Office suite.
- Train-the-Trainer (IMO Model Course 6.09) qualification.
Desirable:
- Cost management / Budget control.
