Overview

Overall Purpose of The Job: The Offshore Projects Director is a senior leadership role accountable for originating, structuring, winning, and executing complex offshore projects across FPSOs, FSOs, Offshore LNG, and related oil & gas assets. This role blends commercial sharpness, operational credibility, and delivery discipline. In short: drive growth, close deals, and make projects work in the real world. This is a hands-on role. You will act as the GM's right-hand, filling gaps, unblocking issues, and pushing multiple workstreams forward simultaneously.

In addition, the Offshore Projects Director will act as Commissioning Lead and Site Project Manager for new FPSO / FRSU greenfield developments, accountable for on-site project execution from late-stage construction through Hook-Up, Commissioning, and achievement of First Oil / First Gas.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Business Development & Market Growth
    • Identify, originate, and develop offshore project opportunities globally, with focus on FPSO, FSO, Offshore LNG, and late-life asset strategies.
    • Maintain senior-level client relationships with operators, asset owners, investors, yards, and partners.
    • Shape value propositions aligned to V. Offshore's O&M, R&M, life extension, and project execution capabilities.
    • Actively support negotiations through to contract award.
  • Bid & Tender Leadership
    • Lead end-to-end bid preparation for complex offshore projects.
    • Define bid strategies, win themes, and risk positioning.
    • Coordinate technical, operational, commercial, legal, and HSSE inputs.
    • Own bid schedules, internal approvals, and executive presentations.
    • Ensure bids are competitive, realistic, and executable.
  • Commercial & Contract Structuring
    • Develop operational commercials, pricing models, and cost structures for offshore projects.
    • Support contract reviews, risk allocation, and commercial negotiations.
    • Balance commercial ambition with operational reality.
    • Provide clear financial and risk visibility to the GM and leadership team.
  • Project Oversight, Commissioning & Delivery
    • Provide senior oversight during project mobilization and execution phases.
    • Act as escalation point for complex operational, contractual, or stakeholder issues.
    • Act as Commissioning Lead and Site Project Manager for new FPSO / FRSU greenfield projects, accountable for:
    • On-site leadership during hook-up, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
    • Integration of yard, marine, offshore installation, and commissioning scopes.
    • Interface management between client, EPC / EPCIC contractors, yards, vendors, and regulators.
    • HSSE leadership during high-risk commissioning and start-up phases.
    • Schedule, cost, readiness, and performance through to First Oil / First Gas.
    • Support project teams in achieving safety, schedule, cost, and performance objectives.
    • Ensure lessons learned are captured and institutionalized.
  • Leadership & Strategic Support to GM
    • Act as a trusted advisor and execution partner to the GM.
    • Support strategic initiatives, client engagements, and internal improvements.
    • Step into undefined spaces as required—this role is intentionally broad.
    • Mentor senior managers and project leads where needed to build in-house capability.

Key Interfaces

  • Clients, partners, yards, EPC / EPCIC contractors, and regulators.
  • Internal operations, technical, HSSE, finance, legal, and commercial teams.
  • Executive leadership and board-level stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience
    • Minimum 10 years in offshore oil & gas, FPSO/FSO, or Offshore LNG environments.
    • Proven leadership of major offshore projects and bid campaigns.
    • Demonstrated success in winning and delivering complex, high-value contracts.
    • Strong exposure to O&M, brownfield projects, life extension, conversions, redeployment programs, and greenfield FPSO / FRSU commissioning and start-up.
  • Leadership Style
    • Hands-on, accountable, and delivery-driven.
    • Collaborative but firm.
    • Comfortable challenging assumptions and raising standards.
  • What Success Looks Like
    • Sustainable project pipeline built and converted.
    • High-quality, winnable bids submitted consistently.
    • Projects executed without surprises.
    • Safe, disciplined hook-up, commissioning, and First Oil delivery on new FPSO/ FRSU projects.
    • GM enabled to focus on strategic leadership, not firefighting.
