About the Role
Are you an experienced External Quality Assurer (EQA) with active Street Works credentials? We are seeking Freelance External Quality Assurers on behalf of a leading Awarding Organisation in the utilities and infrastructure sector to cover approved assessment centres across the South East and South West of England.
In this role, you will act as a key ambassador for the Awarding Organisation, ensuring that approved centres, assessors, and IQAs deliver Street Works (NRSWA) and associated qualifications to the highest regulatory and industry standards. You will conduct centre monitoring, sample assessment practice, provide expert guidance, and produce high-quality verification reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Verification: Monitor and sample assessment practice, learner portfolios, and centre systems to ensure full alignment with awarding body and regulatory requirements.
- Centre Support & Improvement: Conduct monitoring activities, provide constructive feedback, and establish clear action plans with centres, assessors, and IQAs
- Reporting: Produce comprehensive, accurate EQA reports within agreed timescales following each monitoring activity.
- Relationship Management: Develop strong, supportive working relationships with allocated centres and the Awarding Organisation’s quality management team.
- Compliance & Integrity: Identify and report any potential issues of malpractice or maladministration in line with awarding body procedures.
- Standardisation & CPD: Participate in standardisation events, keep CPD records up to date, and stay current with industry developments.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this freelance opportunity, you must possess:

Active SWQR Street Works Card: You must hold a valid Street Works card covering the specific units being quality assured.

Recognised EQA Qualification: Holds D35, V2, Level 4 Award in the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (or Level 4 Certificate in Leading EQA), or equivalent regulated EQA qualification.

Occupational Expertise & Experience: Demonstrable history of hands-on IQA/EQA experience and deep technical knowledge within Street Works and civil/utility operations.

Digital & Communication Competency: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools for reporting and tracking.

Flexibility & Mobility: A full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel across centres in the South West region.
