Selective are recruiting on behalf of an Ofqual recognised Apprenticeship End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO). As an organisation they are committed to quality, and deliver a rigorous apprenticeship end point assessment service. Their service helps to ensure that apprentices, working within a range of industries, are able to do the job they are trained for. Key industries they support include Gas, Power, Water, and Nuclear.
They currently require End Point Assessors for the Gas Network Craftsperson apprenticeship standard, to join their bank of End Point Assessors. The role of a Gas Network Craftsperson relates to ‘Building, maintaining and repairing parts for the country’s gas network, to provide a reliable supply of gas to domestic, commercial and industrial users’. Specifically they are seeking EPAs for the Level 3 Gas Network Craftsperson Apprenticeship, who can assess the Gas Network Maintenance Craftsperson (Electrical & Instrumentation) OR Pressure Management pathways.
- Gas Network Maintenance Craftsperson (Electrical & Instrumentation): Responsible for maintaining the controls and systems that measure, monitor, analyse and control the performance of the gas network. This may include:
- Installing instrumentation and communications technology associated with the control of gas within the gas transportation network
- Testing and maintaining instrumentation and communications systems associated with the control of gas within the gas transportation network
- Responding to faults and taking action to restore operating systems
- Monitoring and reporting on the performance of electrical and instrumentation control systems
- Gas Network Maintenance Pressure Management: Responsible for maintaining the controls and systems that measure, monitor and analyse pressures and flows within the gas network to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the gas transportation network. This may include:
- Installing and maintaining equipment that controls flows and pressures within the gas transportation network in accordance with company procedures
- Responding to faults and taking action to restore systems to full operation
- Monitoring and reporting on the performance of pressure control systems
- Undertaking corrosion monitoring of equipment and pipework and provide reports
CANDIDATE PROFILE: Applicants must be technically qualified and hold substantial experience undertaking relevant roles (Electrical and Instrumentation or Pressure Management) within the Gas Network industry. Ideally, you will also hold a recognised assessor qualification – but this is not essential (the employer will assist with you gaining an Assessor award).
THE ROLE: The role is offered on a flexible / zero hours contract. The hours available vary dependent on demand, and registered EPAs always have a choice to accept assignments based on their availability. This role may be undertaken complementary to an existing substantive position with the permission of your current employer or within a wider portfolio of activities. Upon taking assignments from the Service Delivery team, you will deliver end-point assessment for the relevant apprenticeship standard and assessment method you are approved for. You will undertake (remotely or directly) end-point assessment activities (which may include practical observations and technical interviews), awarding a preliminary grade and ensuring that all assessment decisions are fair, objective, free of bias and based on all relevant evidence presented. You will accurately record the outcomes of all end-point assessment activity using assessment material submitting these records within required timescales.
