V-Recruit are working with a reputable and longstanding commercial landscaping contractor, based in the Wakefield area. Our client are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Landscaping Supervisor/Team Leader to join their team on a permanent basis. The main responsibility of this role is to lead and oversee landscaping operations on commercial sites. The role involves supervising site teams, delivering landscaping works to specification, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on leadership role, working directly on-site while managing operatives and coordinating daily landscaping activities, reporting progress to the Contracts Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead landscaping teams on commercial contracts and project sites
  • Plan and allocate daily tasks in line with programme schedules and drawings
  • Carry out and oversee commercial landscaping works, including:
    • Soft landscaping (planting, turfing, soil preparation, mulching)
    • Site preparation and reinstatement work
  • Ensure all work meets contract specifications, drawings, and quality standards
  • Monitor productivity and ensure efficient use of labour, materials, and machinery to complete works within budget
  • Enforce health & safety procedures, including site inspections and toolbox talks
  • Ensure safe operation and maintenance of plant, tools, and equipment
  • Liaise with main contractor site management
  • Complete site documentation including daily reports, timesheets, and RAMS adjustments if required on site
  • Identify variations, defects, or additional works and report to your management
  • Support training and development of operatives on-site

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in commercial landscaping projects - minimum 3 years in a similar role
  • Previous experience as a Chargehand, Supervisor, or Team Leader (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of soft landscaping techniques
  • Ability to read and work from landscaping drawings and specifications
  • Strong plant knowledge with extensive experience in planting scheme delivery
  • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety within commercial construction environments

Qualifications & Licences

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • CSCS card essential
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Landscaping / Horticulture (desirable)
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (advantageous)
  • Plant and machinery tickets (e.g. dumper, excavator, tractor – advantageous)
