V-Recruit are currently working with a longstanding and reputable contractor to recruit an Estimator for their offices in the Doncaster area. Our client specialises in multiple sectors, including housing, commercial, education and healthcare new build and refurbishments. They are long established and their focus is to deliver high quality and cost-effective projects.
With the above in mind, we are looking for a driven and self-motivated Estimator to work with the existing commercial team, keeping in line with the company values. Our client is open to applicants with various levels of experience, including graduate or even potential Estimators still in study, or experienced, senior estimators with years of experience. We are looking for a certain type of candidate, with the drive to win work and progress within the business.
Duties to include:
- Review tender documents, interpret requirements and work with colleagues to develop the bid strategy.
- Identify and anticipate potential risks.
- Collating detailed price lists and bills of quantities of everything needed on each project.
- Identifying appropriate suppliers and subcontractors from the company’s supplier database or PSL.
- Prepare bespoke or Excel cost models from first principles for use when estimating, budgeting, and forecasting. Keep cost models up to date with current rates from labour, subcontract, plant and material resources.
- Liaise with the relevant people to determine outputs, programme, resource, approach to pricing of schemes including site surveys if or where required.
- Tender Submissions to include preparing, negotiating and analysing costs for tenders, prepare subcontract tender enquiries and evaluation subcontract responses.
- Final bid review and sign off with relevant management prior to submission of bid.
- Tender handover for successful tender to delivery team and QS as part of Project Pre-Start meeting, provide detailed build up to rates and pricing.

- £Negotiable salary, depending on experience
- Annual bonus structure, based on company performance (pro rata bonus available within first year)

Candidate requirements:
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a suitable/third level qualification (or working towards) in a related discipline, such as Construction/Quantity Surveying or extensive previous experience with extensive and proven industry knowledge. You must hold a full UK driving licence, with access to your own transport, as there may be some requirement to travel to other sites or meetings.
