Description Additional Requirements:
- Maintain the pharmacy, infirmary, and isolation in perfect condition of conservation, order, cleanliness, and hygiene.
- Communicate in writing to the Commander, via Immediate, whenever admitting anyone to the ship's infirmary, as well as the existence of any person affected by an infectious disease or subject to compulsory notification, taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
- Strictly comply with the instructions of the National Health Department or other competent governmental body.
- Examine daily the supplies leaving the ship's storerooms and refrigerators for food preparation.
- Mandatory attendance at the entry of provisions on board to examine their quality, informing the Commander, via Immediate, of any irregularities, including the condition of the places where supplies are stored.
- Supervise the boarding of passengers, refusing all those who are carriers of infectious diseases or others that cannot be treated during the voyage.
- Accompany the Commander during inspections of the different areas on board.
- Stay informed about the health status of the crew and those unfit to remain on board, informing the Immediate.
- Attend to any personal accident occurring on board, providing the necessary emergency assistance and classifying injuries as a technician.
- Attend visits from health authorities at national and foreign ports.
- Provide information to the Commander, via Immediate, about the sanitary conditions on board.
- Oversee services of rat extermination, pest control, fumigation, decontamination, and disinfection on board.
- Remain at the ship's medical post during the hours previously determined by the Commander.
- Keep an inventory of all health materials (surgical materials, medications, and pharmacy utensils) and first aid materials, ensuring their conservation and being responsible for any shortages found.
- Formulate requests for necessary medications and materials, forwarding them to the Commander, via Immediate.
- Present a list of existing health materials on board that must be delivered to the authorities at each port.
