V.Ships Leisure is looking for a Broadcast Manager on behalf of Azamara Cruises. This position provides onboard television and radio programming. Onboard television and radio broadcasts consist of a mix of pre‑recorded and/or live material. Sources of broadcast material include satellite programming, terrestrial broadcasts, pre‑recorded content, and live content. Live content can be from a satellite feed or from a lecture or show taking place onboard the ship. Radio programming can consist of satellite or terrestrial radio broadcasts, or pre‑recorded material played back onboard. This includes in cabin music channels and the background music distributed around the ship via the ship’s PA system.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs, coaches, supports, supervises and evaluates (in conjunction with the Cruise Director), the job performance of the Broadcast Operator.
- Assists in the formulation of television and radio broadcast schedule/s.
- Carries out the television and radio broadcast schedules paying attention to start times and broadcast quality.
- Creates programming where necessary, including shooting and editing various lectures, activities, or shows for playback at later times.
- Makes entries and updates information contained in presentations such as PowerPoint.
- Monitors the PA system around the ship paying attention to clarity, volume, and coverage.
- Oversees the video-related requirements and related setups for special groups and activities that may take place in various lounges around the ship.
- Maintains complete records of equipment failures and requests repair or replacement.
- Keeps notes of ongoing status of equipment and Broadcast operational area.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all video material.
- Attends and participates in all monthly Hotel Maintenance Meetings.
- Manages the operation of the ship's ITV Network and all related components with the Broadcast Operator.
- Aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation.
- Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.
- Responsible for effectively managing the time and attendance of their own and direct reports’ work and rest hours.
- Conducts workstation spot checks to ensure items are correctly stored to minimize deterioration and waste.
- Mentors, develops, and provides on-the-job training to his/her staff.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, entertainment, or recreational industry (shipboard experience preferred).
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Superior customer service, teambuilding, and conflict resolution skills.
- Very strong communication, problem solving, organizational, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate computer software skills required.
- Completion of high school or basic education equivalency required.
- Coursework in video production at an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
- Completion of 4 contracts as Broadcast Operator with a performance rating of proficient or above along with demonstrated leadership skills.
- No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months.
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures.
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German is preferred.
