O Oficial de Náutica é responsável perante o Comandante e o Imediato por:
- Manter os equipamentos de salvatagem, incluindo os botes salva-vidas da embarcação, assegurando que estejam permanentemente em estado de prontidão, conforme os requisitos da SOLAS;
- Manter todos os equipamentos de combate a incêndio, incluindo mangueiras, aparelhos de respiração autônoma e extintores (inclusive os localizados na Praça de Máquinas), garantindo que permaneçam constantemente prontos para uso, de acordo com a SOLAS;
- Reportar ao Imediato quaisquer deficiências nos equipamentos de salvatagem ou combate a incêndio que possam afetar a operação segura da embarcação;
- Manter as luzes de navegação, marcas diurnas, bandeiras, adriças e aparelhos de sinalização sonora;
- Manter um quarto de navegação seguro, conforme instruído pelo Comandante;
- Assumir o comando de uma equipe de amarração;
- Manter o quarto de carga/porto, conforme instruído pelo Imediato;
- Atuar como estagiário/substituto do Segundo Oficial sempre que houver oportunidade adequada;
- Executar quaisquer outras tarefas e deveres conforme instruído pelo Comandante;
- Ser-lhe proporcionada a oportunidade de acompanhar e treinar com o Comandante sempre que possível, incluindo treinamento de manobra a bordo. Tal treinamento deverá ser registrado no formulário ADM30a e mencionado em seu relatório de avaliação.
