Key Responsibilities

  • The Third Engineer is responsible to the second Engineer for:
  • Maintaining an engine room watch/UMS duty engineer as required
  • Maintaining all plant and paying particular attention to the main propulsion engines, auxiliary engines and boilers
  • Adopting safe working practices onboard
  • In the absence of an Electrical Officer onboard undertake electrical maintenance, including the completion of all PMS items in ShipSure
  • Understudying the Second Engineer whenever opportunities arise
  • Undertaking any other tasks, duties as instructed by the chief Engineer and/or Second Engineer
