V.Ships Leisure is looking for a Human Resources Manager on behalf of Silversea Cruises. The Human Resources Manager is a strategic HR professional and a member of the Executive Committee. The HRM partners with the leadership team to implement HR policies and procedures. Serving as a strategic business partner to the shipboard leadership team and Executive Committee, the HRM collaborates closely with the Executive Committee to align HR strategies with business goals, providing strategic insights and guidance for decision-making, talent management, and organizational development.
Additionally, the HRM champions and leads cultural transformation initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture, designing and implementing change management strategies, and promoting employee engagement and alignment with company values. The HRM must have extensive knowledge in all aspects of HR including performance management, conduct management, career development, employee relations, MLC compliance, crew experience, learning & development, and HR administration. The HRD serves as the Compliance and Ethics Officer, investigating any concerns and maintaining a close reporting relationship with the Captain for all other crew-related matters. Employees may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with the Company's Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in line with the Silversea HR Manual, HR SOP’s and SQM.
- Role model the Silversea Way.
- As part of the Executive Committee measure and action ship performance against eNPS and NPS targets.
- Oversee activities relating to crew change procedures, crew immigration/customs and all other issues related to Crew Administration.
- Work closely with the Finance Officer and Senior Accountant to ensure successful crew clearance and shore leave in each port.
- HRD is the line manager of the Crew Administrator/s and must act as an inspirational leader, ensuring the high performance of the HR and Crew Administration processes onboard.
- Proactively respond to issues or potential challenges quickly and efficiently, involving relevant people as required.
- Communicate any challenges or complaints, keeping the Executive Committee and shoreside team promptly and fully informed of all matters of significance.
- Foster a culture of high performance, fairness and consistency across all shipboard operations.
- Deliver training, coaching and guidance on the Silversea performance management and appraisal process.
- Support onboard leaders with conduct management, ensuring a nurturing environment when handling employee relations issues using effective conflict resolution, assisting in resolving grievances, whilst fair and consistent process is followed.
- Manage the Crew Welfare Fund through monitoring and controlling expenses.
- Support and execute Learning and Development initiatives as directed by the Fleet HR Team including driving the Silversea Way.
- Facilitate all aspects of crew career development.
- Develop high potential Crew Administrators to strengthen their current performance and prepare for future advancement.
- Create a culture of performance, fairness and consistency onboard our vessels.
- Strive to build employee morale and develop strategies in partnership with onboard leadership to enhance overall employee satisfaction and engagement including driving onboard recognition programs.
- Educate and support the onboard management with regards to HR policies, procedures and standards.
- Create a culture of trust and mutual respect.
- Foster team unity and collaboration.
- Drive positive employee relations by ensuring compliance with MLC, collective bargaining agreements, HR policies and procedures and partnering with leaders to resolve conflicts / grievances.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics as the Compliance and Ethics Officer onboard.
- Foster and maintain professional relationships with government officials, port agents and other business partners in our various ports of call to drive business effectiveness.
- Ensure Company Brand Standards, Safety, Environmental and other company policies are consistently maintained.
- Participate in the Officer visibility standard, with an expectation of guest hosting minimum once per voyage.
- Supervise Expedition HR Managers.
- Provide guidance to the Expedition EC and Expedition HRMs on all HR Matters including but not limited to investigations, performance/ conduct management and disciplinary cases, especially Master’s hearings and potential dismissals.
- Business Partner to the EC and drive cultural transformation.
- Monitor results, including NPS/eNPS for the Expedition fleet and consider HR impact and action planning.
- Support, coach and guide HR trainees.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Valid STCW95 certification.
- Silversea pre-employment medical certification.
- CIPD or equivalent qualification is required.
- Relevant degree in HR or similar is required.
- Evidence of continued professional development is desirable.
- Previous experience in an ultra-luxury hotel or cruise line in a HR or similar role for 5 years.
- Ability to be the single HR contact for one to three vessels providing expert guidance.
- Understanding of Hotel, Marine and Expedition operations supporting a strong ability to Business Partner these functions.

- Excellent level of typing skills and computer proficiency.
