Description
V.Ships Leisure is looking for Hotel Storekeeper on behalf of Azamara Cruises.
The Hotel Storekeeper is responsible for coordinating all essential duties related to the ordering, loading, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuance of all Hotel products. Accountable for preserving quality and quantity control of Hotel inventoried items. Responsible for maintaining all Hotel storerooms clean and organized. Responsible for ensuring that the chemical room is in compliance with MARPOL and USPH regulations and guidelines. Support the inventory team to fulfill and complete all initiatives related to loading and storing of inventoried items.
Key Responsibilities

  • Efficient day to day management of the stores department, including, but not limited to, managing, monitoring, developing and training team members, ensuring an efficient and cost-effective provisions operation.
  • Supporting adequate resourcing of teams, completing appraisals, identifying development opportunities and supporting staff to guide, motivate and direct their respective teams.
  • Ensuring adherence of company\’s policies for the ordering, loading, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuance of all Hotel products.
  • Managing uniform and linen stores on behalf of the Inventory Manager and Hotel department.
  • Preparing orders to achieve efficient consumption analysis against departmental budgets, supervising and training staff where necessary.
  • Supporting the Inventory Manager with the planning and management of logistics within set lead times.
  • Maintaining storeroom stock levels to meet the immediate and long term needs of the ship.
  • Participating in stores routines and rotations in accordance with operational needs and the Maritime Labour Convention.
  • Ensuring the delivery, receipt and safe movement of stores on turnaround days in accordance with company health and safety policy and procedures and acceptable Public Health Sanitation Programs and EU SHIPSAN procedures.
  • Ensuring prompt and secure storage, under correct temperature control.
  • Reporting any spillage, breakage or damage that occurs during storing operations, in the storeroom, or under transportation to other departments.
  • Efficiently and accurately locating and picking stock when preparing departmental requisitions.
  • Completing stock takes in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for taking physical count of all Hotel items following the Inventory Cycle Count schedule.
  • Ensuring proper disbursement of merchandise from the storerooms following the pick-up times established in the Internal Requisitioning Timetable for Hotel Items.
  • Creating pick lists for all approved Hotel customer orders.
  • Providing pick lists to Linen keeper.
  • Invoicing all pick lists in the inventory system upon issuance of supplies.
  • Conducts storerooms spot check to ensure items are correctly stored in order to minimize deterioration and waste and to maximize storing and space efficiencies.
  • Responsible for providing the necessary ongoing training to subordinates on precautionary measures to avoid bodily injuries and/or damages to company\’s property when using chemical and cleaning material.
  • Assists the Inventory Manager with assigned duties required by the day-to-day operations of the Inventory Organization.
  • Identifying and reporting to the Inventory Manager any receipt discrepancies during the loading process.
  • Making recommendations to Inventory Manager regarding personnel actions such as promotions, new hire requests, and discharges.
  • Undertaking quality control checks, logging any issues and reporting.
  • Reporting order discrepancies to the Inventory Manager.
  • Reporting spoilage, slow-moving and non-moving items to the Inventory Manager each cruise.
  • Ensuring effective communication and teamwork between stores and other Hotel departments.
  • Reporting maintenance defects in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring cleaning standards and schedules for the storerooms are adhered to and logs maintained in accordance with acceptable Public Health Sanitation Programs and EU SHIPSAN procedures.
  • Supporting the Inventory Manager with the completion of daily, weekly and end of cruise reports and documentation in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Effective participation in garbage duties to ensure safe disposal and environmental compliance in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Adherence to the company\’s health and hygiene standards in line with the acceptable Public Health Sanitation Programs and EU SHIPSAN procedures
  • Ensuring the safe operation and working practice of the stores department and any related matters affecting the safety of the ship, passengers, and crew.
  • Informing the Provision Master immediately of any occurrence affecting the safe operation of the ship or the safety of persons onboard and/or the quality of services offered to passengers.
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure safe food temperatures throughout delivery, storage and issuing.
  • Supervising the welfare and discipline of all members of the stores department in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reporting defects or malfunctions of safety equipment and appliances e.g. expired or empty fire extinguishers, defective fire doors, broken or missing lifejackets, broken fire buttons, safety posters missing, etc.
  • Reporting defective stores equipment and required maintenance immediately to ensure the safe and hygienic operation of the ship.
  • Participating fully in safety drills and statutory inspections commensurate to the role and as per company policies and procedures.
  • Participating in minimum stores manning to comply with the In-Port Manning plan in accordance with international maritime law.
  • Ensuring departmental compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention directive on working hours.
  • Applying correct security measures.
  • Environmental stewardship is central to this role and the entire operation of the ship. This role will engage in, comply with and promote all environmental regulations and policies, actively working with the stores and Hotel team to promote sustainability and protection of the environment in all aspects of life on board.
  • Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.
  • Conducts workstation spot checks to ensure items are correctly stored to minimize deterioration and waste.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • High School degree. At least 3 years experience as Hotel supply controller/administrator at a reputable hotel, or at comparable firm that stores high volume of merchandise.
  • Knowledge of public health standards (USPH) related to storeroom management of Hotel items.
  • Knowledge of chemical storage guidelines.
  • Computer knowledge; proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Employees must complete at least 2 contracts as Food Storekeeper.
  • Evaluation must have recommendations from Inventory Manager, and Hotel Director.
  • Knowledge of company\’s inventory system.
  • Awareness of product specifications.
  • Organized and good with numbers.
  • No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months.
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German is preferred.
