Overall Purpose of the Job: The Service Owner for Vessel Services is responsible for defining and delivering high‑quality IT services that enhance employee productivity and experience. Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams, the Service Owner ensures that vessel services – such as endpoint management, collaboration tools, PMS (database) solutions, and digital workplace technologies – are aligned with business needs and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Own and define the vision, roadmap, and backlog for vessel IT services.
- Prioritise service improvements, new feature requests, and enhancements based on business needs and impact.
- Ensure vessel IT services align with business goals, compliance requirements, and user expectations.
- Act as the voice of the user, gathering feedback through various channels to refine services continuously.
- Work closely with business units, IT teams, and external partners to understand, document and continuously review requirements and expectations.
- Lead the vessel support teams to ensure high‑quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear, transparent communication on service roadmaps, progress, and incident resolutions.
- Work directly with vessel /PMS IT engineers, vendors, and development teams to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
- Support the deployment of new tools and technologies, ensuring smooth adoption across the organisation.
- Conduct hands‑on testing, validation, and vessel training when required.
- Establish and maintain service performance metrics, reporting, and governance while working with service leads to monitor KPIs, user satisfaction, and incident reports, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Lead problem management initiatives, driving root cause analysis and long‑term fixes.
- Ensure seamless transition of new or modified services into live operations by defining service acceptance criteria and facilitating a smooth handover from project teams to operations.
- Champion ITIL processes, including Change, Release, and Service Transition Management, to enhance service stability and governance.
- Champion automation, self‑service, to improve vessel support and PMS implementation.
- Ensure vessel IT services adhere to security policies, regulatory requirements, and IT governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to mitigate risks and enhance service resilience.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Service/Product Owner, IT Service Manager, or similar role within a complex organisation.
- Hands‑on experience with ITSM tools and collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Google Workspace).
- Strong technical understanding of endpoint management, remote desktop solutions, and IT support processes in geographically and technically diverse environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in an agile environment, managing backlogs and prioritising work effectively.
Desirable
- Previous experience with vessel technology and services.
- Certifications in ITIL, Agile (Scrum Product Owner), or similar frameworks.
- Experience with ISO‑compliant service delivery, ensuring alignment with standards such as ISO 20000 or ISO 27001.
- Experience with automation and AI‑driven IT support solutions.
- Knowledge of security best practices related to vessel IT services.
