Responsibilities
Overall Purpose of The Job: The IT Delivery Director is a senior IT executive, reporting to the CTIO as part of their cross-functional leadership team. They are accountable for the consistent leadership and oversight of IT delivery across and within the V.Ships, V.Services and V.Group set of companies. Spanning the delivery of technology programmes, products and transformation initiatives, this progressive and future-facing role provides strategic leadership and direction across, and within, all three of the IT portfolios, ensuring that critical initiatives – such as the flagship Marine ERP replatforming programme – are successfully executed and deliver measurable business value.
It is the role of the IT Delivery Director to define the technology delivery strategy, operating model, governance framework and value realisation approach in support of those in place for the IT division and the wider organisation - ensuring consistent execution across a complex, global, cross-functional landscape. This is a transformational role – its success will be measured on its ability to enable V.’s future operating model, through:
- Driving more efficient and effective development cycles, including more frequent releases
- Embedding AI-first delivery and development practices, including AI proofs of concept and rapid prototyping within the established Agile framework
- Transforming the role of our offshore development partner(s)
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Oversee delivery of portfolio and product backlogs in line with agreed business priorities
- Provide oversight and direction to their IT delivery team
- Ensure clear linkage between investment, delivery and business outcomes / value realisation
- Define and enforce the IT delivery governance framework, methodologies and standards referenced in delivery execution
- Establish consistent controls for scope, timelines, cost, quality and risk across all delivery – providing additional levels of executive oversight for complex deliveries
- Balance governance requirements with agility, embedding lean and adaptive governance practices
- Ensure high-quality delivery artefacts, reporting and decision-making structures
- Drive adoption of Agile and product-based delivery approaches
- Intervene and resolve escalated delivery risks, issues and constraints beyond ‘Heads of’ control
- Define and track value-based KPIs, ensuring delivery outcomes align with business case benefits
- Implement reporting and dashboards for progress, financials and outcomes at all levels and through different lenses: from functional to portfolio, programme and project, and from epic, through feature to story – providing consolidated insights and recommendations
- Enable transparency and data-driven decision-making at executive level
- Oversee the supplier ecosystem supporting IT delivery, ensuring performance levels and value for money
- Ensure team members effectively manage vendor delivery and contractual commitments
- Lead, develop and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture across internal and third-party teams

Essential Education
Degree in computer science, information systems (or a related field), project management or general business management. Alternatively, equivalent IT experience.
Experience
Significant experience in senior IT delivery leadership roles Proven track record of overseeing large-scale, complex technology programmes, including software/platform transformation Experience managing multiple teams across: development, programme delivery, QA & testing, engineering and release management Strong experience in delivery management, governance and financial control Experience with Agile and hybrid delivery models in enterprise environments Experience operating across multi-vendor, matrixed global organisations
Knowledge & Skills
Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and influence others Excellent communication skills, including executive reporting and stakeholder management Ability to translate technology delivery into business value outcomes Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting and resource allocation Deep expertise in: Programme and portfolio management frameworks; Agile, DevOps, and product delivery models; Governance, risk, and financial management. Familiar with principles of product-centric delivery, value-stream alignment, fusion teams and outcome-driven metrics Aware of operating model principles, such as those set out by Gartner and Open Group’s IT4IT Aware of, and ability to, implement and use current and emerging technologies, including AI A clear understanding and broad knowledge of V.Group, V.Ships and the shipping industry in general, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms Strong interpersonal relationships, including the ability to collaborate effectively, build positive relationships, and manage conflict within groups
