Description
We are looking for experienced ENGINE BOY/CLEANERS ready to join CRYSTAL cruise ships – vessel CRYSTAL SYMPHONY , embarkation starting October till December 2025.
Position Summary

  1. Responsible to carry out daily maintenance and cleaning of engine spaces, machinery and mechanical equipment as directed by the Engineer in charge.

Reporting Structure

  1. Reporting to the Staff Engineer and on duty Engineer.

Safety Duties:

  1. Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
  2. Must always comply with the Company\’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
  3. Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
  4. Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  1. Valid STCW 95 certification.
  2. Valid Engine Watch Rating certification A-III/4.
  3. Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.
  4. Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding.
  5. Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.
  6. Physically and medically fit.
  7. Moral integrity is required.

Language requirements:
Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Performs cleaning and painting of various machinery, equipment and engine room spaces.
  2. Assists Engineers and superior ratings with the following (to include but not limited to)
    1. Overhauls of engines and auxiliaries.
    2. Pumps.
    3. Welding.
    4. Operating Lathe Machines.
    5. Carrying out most steelwork and pipe fittings.
    6. Continuously supervises and inspects machinery spaces during working hours and promptly report any deficiencies or malfunctions to the Staff Engineer and on duty engineer.
  3. Prevents spares and tools from being damaged due to poor handling.
  4. To be part of the technical loading team during intake of provisions.
  5. To provide technical assistance during the ship\’s tendering operations.
  6. Assists with general maintenance (to include but not limited to the following):
    1. Cleaning.
    2. Painting.
    3. Repairs.
  7. Keeps the Chief Engineer, Staff Engineer and duty Engineer promptly and fully informed of all problems, any issues that may compromise the ships safety and any deficiencies found in the machinery or equipment.
  8. Must be competent in using the internal communications systems and have good knowledge of the Engine Room alarms.
  9. Responsible for informing the on duty Engineer whenever leaving the engine room to perform duties elsewhere.
  10. Keeping supervisors fully informed of the progress of any work undertaken and any defects or problems in his allocated area of responsibility.
  11. Responsible for keeping the engine room and all other machinery areas clean, along with all parts and tools used.
  12. Accountable for ensuring that Company, Public Health, National and International standards are maintained and meeting requirements. Reporting to the Staff Engineer any instances where the ship is unable or fails to comply.
  13. Observes and enforces uniform and grooming standards according to Company policies.
  14. Ensures that other team members are informed and updated on the occurrences during the watch.
  15. Practices good people management, maintaining proper conduct within the Engine department and other departments around the ship.
  16. General engine room and all other duties as assigned by supervisors.
