Third Engineer (watch keeper) for ORIENT EXPRESS CORITHIAN, embarkation 01/March/2026, contract 2 months on/off.

Key Qualifications

  • Valid STCW95 certification.
  • Valid CoC A-III/1.
  • Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
  • Extensive experience in subordinate positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role, with preferable experience with Wartsila engines.
  • Physically and medically fit.
  • Moral integrity is required.
  • Public Health, Sanitation, and Environmental training courses are appreciated.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and manuals.
  • Alaska experience is a plus.
  • Public Health, Coast Guard, and Port State Control experience is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • To maintain a safe engine room watch whilst the vessel is at sea, at anchor and in port in accordance with Company Policies, any National or International standards and any other prescribed regulations.
  • Execution of safe and efficient performance of Main and Auxiliary engines.
  • To lead safe operations of machinery and equipment, monitoring engine control systems in the engine room.
  • Execution of repair and maintenance work in areas carried out inside and outside of the Engine Room.
  • Responsible for effectively and efficiently overseeing maintenance in accordance with Company Policies and compliance with Public Health or any other prescribed regulations.
  • Ensures proper coordination with different technical parties and departments.

Reporting

  • Reporting to the Staff Engineer.

Safety Duties

  • Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
  • Complies with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
  • Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
  • Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are used correctly.

Language and Computer

  • Language requirements: Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). The working and safety language on board is English. Ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to engage with guests and crew. Additional languages are beneficial.
  • Computer knowledge: Proficient with AMOS and Microsoft applications.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Must stand, walk long distances, reach and sit. Repetitive bending, climbing stairs and ladders. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Overtime and irregular schedules. Work in Engine Control Room and engine spaces with noise and varying conditions.
