Key Responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities include the safe planning and execution of all cargo and ballast operations, ensuring ship stability and structural integrity throughout the voyage.
- As a key member of the bridge team, the officer maintains a safe navigational watch and leads the deck department in emergency response situations.
- Administrative duties encompass the maintenance of the hull, fittings, and crew accommodations, alongside the management of deck stores and maintenance records.
- The role involves acting as the Ship Security Officer and overseeing environmental protection measures, including garbage management.
- Furthermore, the Chief Officer is responsible for promoting safe working practices, conducting regular safety inspections, and ensuring all lifesaving and firefighting equipment is fully operational and compliant with international regulations.
