The Fourth Engineer serves as an Engineer Officer in charge of the Watch, ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of machinery during both active watchkeeping and UMS duties. Reporting directly to the Second Engineer for operational tasks, this role focuses on the routine maintenance of engine room plant, with a specific emphasis on the upkeep of compressors and pumps. The officer is expected to carry out all engineering duties in strict accordance with the company’s technical procedures while maintaining a high standard of shipboard safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide watchkeeping support and maintain safety and operational efficiency of machinery throughout the watch.
- Conduct routine maintenance of engine room plant, compressors, and pumps, following company technical procedures.
- Ensure high standard of shipboard safety and compliance with operational guidelines.
