Key Responsibilities
The Third Engineer acts as a designated Engineer Officer of the Watch, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all machinery during active or UMS (Unattended Machinery Space) duty. Reporting to the Second Engineer for operational tasks, this role focuses on the hands-on maintenance of the main propulsion engines, auxiliary engines, and boilers according to the company’s technical procedures. In the absence of a dedicated Electrical Officer, the Third Engineer also assumes responsibility for electrical maintenance and the completion of related items within the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
