The Second Officer serves as the vessel’s primary Navigation Officer and Medical Officer, responsible to the Master for safe passage planning and the maintenance of all bridge equipment and charts. This role involves keeping a professional navigational watch, ensuring all electronic and paper publications are up to date, and managing the ship’s medical stores and first aid under the Master's supervision.

As the Health Promotion Officer, the Second Officer monitors crew well-being while assisting the Chief Officer with cargo and ballast operations, including the supervision of mooring parties and port watches.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the vessel’s primary Navigation Officer and Medical Officer.
  • Responsible for safe passage planning and maintenance of all bridge equipment and charts.
  • Keep a professional navigational watch.
