Responsibilities:
- Preparação da propulsão principal e de outras instalações da Praça de Máquinas para a navegação.
- Operação diária eficaz e eficiente da propulsão principal e de outras instalações da Praça de Máquinas.
- Organização e supervisão dos oficiais de quarto da Praça de Máquinas/oficiais de máquinas de serviço UMS.
- Organização e supervisão dos subalternos do Departamento de Máquinas e demais funcionários do departamento.
- Operação eficiente de todos os equipamentos de emergência. Teste de todos os equipamentos de emergência, incluindo os equipamentos não mantidos nos espaços de máquinas, por exemplo: Gerador de Emergência, Bomba de Incêndio de Emergência, Motores dos Botes Salva-vidas, Dampers de Incêndio (Fire Flaps), Paradas de Emergência e Dispositivos de Fechamento Rápido das Válvulas dos Tanques de Combustível.
- Adotar práticas seguras de trabalho a bordo.
- Tomar todas as medidas necessárias para garantir a proteção do meio ambiente.
- Manutenção da propulsão principal e das máquinas auxiliares, equipamentos de movimentação de carga e máquinas de convés.
- Manutenção dos espaços de máquinas e das superfícies internas de aço, incluindo limpeza geral.
- Participar integralmente das reuniões de gestão do VMS a bordo.
- Garantir total familiarização com todos os sistemas de tubulação e válvulas de controle, bem como com os sistemas elétricos, para que, em situações de emergência, os serviços essenciais possam ser restabelecidos de forma rápida e segura.
- Garantir que um Oficial de Máquinas competente teste diariamente a água de todas as caldeiras e sistemas de alimentação. Em caso de indicação de contaminação, assegurar que o fato seja imediatamente comunicado ao Chefe de Máquinas. Garantir que todos os resultados dos testes sejam registrados no Diário de Máquinas e nos formulários de relatório de tratamento ou no software fornecido.
- Informar ao Chefe de Máquinas as necessidades de peças sobressalentes, bem como manter os níveis de estoque e o sistema de reporte.
- Garantir que as medidas de segurança sejam implementadas nos espaços da Praça de Máquinas, conforme orientação do Comandante/Oficial de Segurança do Navio.
- Auxiliar o Chefe de Máquinas no treinamento e desenvolvimento dos oficiais juniores e subalternos do Departamento de Máquinas.
- Acompanhar e aprender as funções do Chefe de Máquinas sempre que surgir oportunidade adequada.
- Executar quaisquer outras tarefas e deveres conforme instruído pelo Chefe de Máquinas.
