About VAK Conveying Systems VAK Conveying Systems delivers full-service conveying, silo, vacuum, and bulk handling solutions nationwide — from design, installation, and commissioning through to ongoing service and maintenance. We specialise in silo cleaning, silo painting, filters & explosion panels, and we operate service & maintenance contracts to ensure clients enjoy reliable, safe, and compliant operation of their plant. Our silo cleaning service is capable of both dry and wet cleaning methods, internal and external cleaning, and often involves operating in confined spaces or at height. We pride ourselves on safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption to client operations. Role Overview As a Silo Cleaning & Servicing Technician, you will: * Carry out internal and external silo cleans (wet / dry) across various client sites * Use non-entry cleaning methods where possible (e.g. whip systems, air agitation) * Perform confined-space entry when required, in line with permits, safety protocols, and using escape breathing apparatus * Handle cleaning of silo filters, explosion panels, access ladders, walkways, and safety cages * Perform servicing, inspection, repair, and maintenance tasks on silo systems, conveying equipment, and associated components * Assist in client liaison to schedule downtime windows, and plan work to minimize production impact * Maintain detailed job reports, record parts used, and advise clients of recommendations for further works * Support the company’s service & maintenance contracts and help promote proactive maintenance strategies Requirements & Skills Essential: * Prior experience working in industrial cleaning, servicing, or maintenance roles (especially with bulk solids or silo structures) * Competence or certification in confined space entry, working at height, and use of breathing apparatus * Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, risk assessment and method statements * Good mechanical aptitude: ability to work with tools, pumps, valves, filters, structural steel, etc. * Strong health & safety awareness and commitment * Good physical fitness, able to work in challenging conditions (dust, heights, tight spaces) * Full, clean driving licence (UK) and willingness to travel to client sites across the UK and ireland * Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team Desirable: * Experience with silo cleaning equipment (whips, compressed-air cleaning systems, vacuum systems) * Experience in the food, ingredient, power, biomass, or bulk materials industries * Relevant certifications (e.g. CSCS, IPAF, PASMA) What We Offer * Competitive salary and overtime * Company vehicles, fuel card, and tools * Training and development (safety, specialist equipment, certification) * Pension and standard company benefits * Opportunity to work across a variety of industries and challenging technical environments * A supportive and safety-driven workplace culture 30 to 40 hours a week with usual overtime Availbility to work saturdays when customer requires the work to be carried out during a saturday shutdown Willing to work away when the job requires
