The Leading Practitioner Team at Uxbridge High School plays a central role in driving excellence in teaching, learning, and student outcomes across the school. Comprising highly skilled and experienced classroom practitioners, the team works collaboratively with Curriculum Leaders and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver high-quality provision and continuous school improvement.

Leading Practitioners are responsible for modelling outstanding teaching practice, supporting curriculum development, and ensuring consistency in the delivery of engaging and effective lessons. They contribute to raising standards by coaching and mentoring colleagues, promoting innovative teaching strategies, and supporting staff in achieving consistently good and outstanding practice in line with the Uxbridge High School Playbook.

Uxbridge High School is seeking an outstanding and ambitious Leading Practitioner to drive excellence in teaching, learning, and student achievement within the curriculum. We particularly welcome applications from Maths and Science teachers. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting curriculum leadership, enhancing the quality of teaching, and improving outcomes for students across all key stages, including A Level.

You will work to develop innovative teaching practices, support staff development, and ensure consistently high standards of provision. As a highly effective classroom practitioner, you will model outstanding teaching, coach and mentor colleagues, and contribute to whole-school teaching and learning strategies. You will also help create a purposeful, engaging learning environment that raises aspirations and supports student progress and achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Model outstanding teaching and demonstrate best practices in the classroom.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues to raise teaching standards and student outcomes.
  • Support curriculum development and ensure consistency in delivering engaging lessons.
  • Contribute to whole-school teaching and learning strategies and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Leaders and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver high-quality provision.

Qualifications

  • Highly skilled and experienced classroom practitioner.
  • Strong track record in modelling and delivering high-quality teaching.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and lead colleagues to achieve good and outstanding practice.
  • Experience across key stages, including A Level, with a focus on Maths or Science preferred.
