A hands-on logistics role combining team leadership, freight coordination and day-to-day operations. Our client is looking for a practical and dependable Logistics Team Lead to take responsibility for a busy day-to-day logistics operation in West London. This is a varied position where you will lead and support a small team while remaining closely involved in the work yourself. Alongside organising workloads and keeping shipments moving, you will handle freight administration, liaise with customers and suppliers and help resolve operational issues as they arise. The role also includes occasional collections and deliveries during busy periods, so applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving a Luton-style commercial vehicle in and around London.

Why Apply?

  • Permanent Monday-to-Friday position
  • Varied role combining leadership, administration and practical logistics work
  • Opportunity to take ownership of daily operations
  • Training available in specialist freight and customs processes
  • Long-term opportunity with an established business

The Role:

  • Coordinate the daily workload of a small logistics team
  • Help ensure shipments, deadlines and customer requirements are handled efficiently
  • Manage freight movements and associated administration from collection through to delivery
  • Prepare and check import, export and shipping documentation
  • Support customs-related administration, with training available where required
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, carriers and other external partners
  • Coordinate goods arriving into and leaving the warehouse
  • Maintain accurate operational records and documentation
  • Deal with day-to-day problems and help keep work moving during busy periods
  • Provide practical support across the operation, including occasional collections and deliveries

The ideal Logistics Team Lead will have:

  • Previous experience supervising, coordinating or leading a small team
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Confidence driving a Luton-style van or similar commercial vehicle
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A practical approach and willingness to support the wider operation
  • Confidence working independently and using initiative
  • The ability to remain organised in a busy, deadline-led environment

Highly beneficial:

  • Previous experience within logistics, freight, transport or shipping
  • Exposure to import, export or customs procedures
  • Experience preparing freight or shipping documentation
  • Familiarity with warehouse, goods-in or goods-out operations
  • Experience coordinating freight movements across different transport methods

Previous specialist freight knowledge would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Our client is also open to candidates with strong transferable team leadership and operational experience, as training can be provided in more specialist areas. This Logistics Team Lead opportunity would suit someone who enjoys variety and is equally comfortable coordinating people, completing administration, solving problems and helping with practical operational tasks when required.
