Lecturer – English – Functional Skills 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Salary in the range of £33,429 - £46,618 per annum including London Weighting Based at Harrow on the Hill and Harrow Weald Campuses We are seeking to appoint a full time Lecturer to deliver Functional Skills English within our cross-College provision, primarily to vocational learners aged 16-18. This is a rewarding area of the College, and you would play a key role in supporting our vocational learners with their development and to help them progress onto higher courses or the workplace.
You may also teach some GCSE English, however the main focus of the role is the delivery of Functional Skills. You will preferably possess a degree or equivalent in English or a related subject area (or a Level 3 qualification plus proven successful experience of teaching English/Literacy/ESOL/EFL for at least 2 years). You will need to have experience of teaching/tutoring Functional Skills English, ESOL, EFL or literacy, and have the ability to engage and enthuse 16- to 18-year-olds from a variety of vocational disciplines.
You will either possess a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, or be willing to undertake teacher training, supported by the College. The postholder will teach one evening per week (Thursdays) until 9.00pm. You will be joining a supportive and inclusive organisation, with many opportunities for professional development and growth.
