ConsultANZ is looking for a Superintendent/Operations Manager in Cambridge. Our client is a well-established civil contractor operating throughout Waikato, South Waikato, and the Bay of Plenty region. With a strong reputation in delivering drainage, earthworks, slip repairs, retaining structures, and sewerage treatment works.
This is a people-focused role suited to someone with a strong ability to manage teams, resolve personnel issues, and oversee site operations across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small, dedicated team including 2 Foremen, 1 Supervisor, and several work crews.
- Oversee project delivery across up to 4 live sites in the Waikato, South Waikato, and Tauranga regions.
- Handle HR matters including performance management, disciplinary actions, and team development.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring site compliance and safe work practices.
- Coordinate workforce and resources to ensure smooth and timely project delivery.
- Support scheduling, progress tracking, and general site oversight.
- Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders as required.
About You
- Proven experience in site supervision or operations management within civil construction.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills – ability to manage and motivate teams is essential.
- Solid understanding of HR/people management processes including conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with civil construction projects (drainage, earthworks, or treatment plants) is ideal.
- Experience or willingness to learn Topcon GPS systems for site set-out.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
