This is an opportunity for an early career researcher to support the delivery of a new NIHR‑funded research project focused on exploring whether health screening, education and promotion in mosques improves the health and wellbeing of Muslim communities. The project is led at UWE Bristol within our School of Health and Social Wellbeing and starts on 1 April 2026, running for 36 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Use mixed methods to conduct research individually and as part of the team, including realist methodology, literature reviews, interviews with patients, carers and mosque staff, and surveys.
- Support the acquisition of ethical approvals, data collection, analysis and interpretation, and the production of reports and dissemination.
- Work extensively with mosques and apply a strong understanding of Muslim cultural etiquette (respectful behaviour, modesty in dress, diversity of practices).
Qualifications and Experience
- Self‑motivated individual with recent experience of conducting research within health or social care.
- Skilled in collecting, analysing and interpreting research data.
- Familiarity with the ethical and legal requirements for health research and experience contributing to ethical approvals, report writing and dissemination.
Contract and Working Conditions
- Fixed‑term post until 31 March 2029, 0.6 FTE.
- Campus‑based role with some opportunity to work from home.
- Requires basic DBS clearance.
