Base salary range: Level B: $118,150 - $139,812 / Level C: $144,143 – $165,809 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area: The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering under the School of Physics, Mathematics and Computing is renowned for its award-winning researchers, teachers and facilities. The broad-based undergraduate and postgraduate programs are complemented by a wide range of research activities and the School is a leader in developing graduates with high level expertise in computer programming and the methods involved in performing complex computations and processing data. In the resource rich state of Western Australia, the opportunities for partnership and collaborative research are extensive and the Department has well established links with industry.

About the opportunity: Deliver high-quality teaching and coordination across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Computer Science and related disciplines, contributing to curriculum development and student learning. Build a strong research profile through publications, grant funding and collaborations, while supervising Honours, Masters and PhD students. Contribute to the academic community through service to the University and discipline, and make a sustained long-term impact on teaching and research excellence.

About you: PhD in Computer Science or an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to the discipline. Demonstrated expertise in the discipline of Computer Science. Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles.

  • Level B: Demonstrated ability to deliver teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses. A demonstrated track record in excellence in research evidenced by peer-reviewed journal and conference articles published in high quality venues relative to opportunity. A demonstrated emerging track record of successful competitive funding application. Demonstrated evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students, relative to opportunity. Participation in education/research leadership in public engagements that promote research and/or education outcome, government and industry.
  • Level C: Demonstrated excellence in the development and delivery of curricula and the use of innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses. Experience in the mentoring of junior colleagues, demonstrators and tutors, where relevant. A demonstrated track record of excellence in research at a national level evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles published in high quality journals and conferences. A demonstrated track record of success in awarded competitive funding. Demonstrated evidence of successful supervision of HDR students, Masters and Honours students. Demonstrated experience of leading public engagement activities that promote research and/or education outcomes, government and industry.
