The School of Engineering is a collaborative and inclusive multidisciplinary school offering education and research in a number of engineering disciplines, including biomedical, civil, environmental, mining, chemical, mechanical, electrical and electronic, and automation robotics. The School of Engineering has an established and dedicated team of teaching and research academics who are committed to excellence in education, mentoring, and real-world impact, providing undergraduate and post-graduate teaching programmes across multiple engineering disciplines. In research, the School also spans a wide range of engineering disciplines, with groups often comprising diverse, transdisciplinary teams who work closely with industry and the broader community to produce outcomes with impact. The School of Engineering at UWA is driving an initiative to improve diversity, equity and inclusion amongst its academic staff; increased gender diversity amongst staff and students is a key priority for the School.
About the opportunity
Deliver teaching in core civil engineering (engineering mechanics, structural analysis and design), incorporating relevant Australian standards, and support undergraduate and postgraduate course planning, development and delivery. Undertake high-quality scholarly research aligned with UWA priorities, including interdisciplinary collaboration, industry engagement, and contribution to research teams through student supervision, funding applications, and publications in leading international journals. Engage with professional bodies, industry stakeholders, and the broader community to enhance the impact and visibility of the School’s teaching and research activities.
About you
- PhD in Civil or Structural Engineering or closely related field.
- Demonstrated emerging track record in developing and delivering curricula relevant to opportunity, including units aligned with Australian standards in structural design, and incorporating innovative teaching approaches, assessment strategies and learning materials.
- Demonstrated track record relative to opportunity of excellence in research with impact in an area complementary to the research being undertaken at UWA.
- Demonstrated contribution to successful competitive funding applications and ability to engage with industry and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to the School and wider University activities, including experience of public engagement activities that promote research and/or education outcomes to government, industry and the community.
