We are seeking two Trainee Solicitors/Lawyers to join our Legal Team. This role is ideal for motivated, enthusiastic and committed individuals who are looking to gain invaluable hands‑on experience and develop a strong foundation for your future career as a qualified solicitor. You will gain exposure to a wide range of legal disciplines and work alongside specialist lawyers on matters including litigation, property, contracts, governance and more. This comprehensive experience will support your development with a view to qualification and admission as a solicitor.

Responsibilities

As a Trainee Solicitor/Lawyer, you will:

  • Develop your legal skills and professional knowledge, including advocacy, oral presentation, case and transaction management, client care, communication, legal drafting, interviewing, advising, interpretation and research.
  • Carry a mixed caseload of local government work, under supervision, appropriate to your experience and stage of training.
  • Advocate in appropriate uncontested hearings in civil and criminal matters where suitable, representing the Council in the Magistrates’ Court, County Court or other tribunals.
  • Draft contracts, agreements, deeds and legal documents across all areas of the Council’s business, as well as instructions to Counsel and internal reports.
Qualifications
  • Meet the requirements to study ILEX/ have completed, or be in the process of completing, the LPC or SQE.
  • Be self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
  • Possess strong research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent IT and communication abilities, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Show a genuine commitment to training, development and professional growth.
