An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join our Housing Services Team at Uttlesford District Council.

This hybrid role offers a varied and rewarding working environment, combining time in the office, home visits with tenants, attendance at meetings, and the flexibility to work from home on occasion.

As a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will play a vital role in helping council tenants maintain successful and sustainable tenancies.

Working closely with the Housing Management Team, you will provide practical support, guidance and advice to tenants who may be facing challenges that put them at risk of tenancy failure or homelessness.

You will assess individual circumstances, identify support needs, and work with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations to connect tenants with appropriate services.

Encouraging and supporting ongoing engagement with partner agencies will be key to helping tenants achieve positive and lasting outcomes.

  • Key Requirements
  • Experience of working directly with tenants, customers or service users, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Experience of partnership working and collaborating with multiple agencies within an advice, support or housing-related setting.
  • A confident and assertive approach, balanced with empathy and understanding when working with people experiencing difficult circumstances.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is motivated, resilient and passionate about helping people overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

If you are committed to supporting vulnerable residents and want to make a meaningful impact, we would love to hear from you.

A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle is required as travelling within the district will be necessary. An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

Closing date for completed applications is 2 August 2026. Interview date to be confirmed.

Uttlesford District Council is an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from all.
