Overview
Uttlesford District Council’s Finance Team is responsible for delivering a full range of financial services, covering all aspects of financial accounting, from invoice processing through to the preparation of the Council’s final accounts. This part‑time role offers a varied workload and an excellent opportunity to develop and broaden your finance knowledge within the public sector.
Responsibilities
As a key member of the Finance Team, the successful candidate will provide essential support across a wide range of accounting functions, gaining valuable exposure to all areas of the financial process. The role is responsible for ensuring finance procedures and processes are maintained effectively, while also contributing to the ongoing review and development of procedures to improve efficiency and support continuous service improvement.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience working within a busy and diverse finance environment, together with a sound understanding of financial procedures and internal control frameworks. You will be able to manage competing priorities and deadlines, demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying process improvements, and be confident in implementing positive changes that enhance service delivery.
The ability to manage personal workloads and work flexibly within the finance service is important to the delivery of this role. This is particularly true because this role will become even more flexible, with the expectation to work across debtors and creditors.
