Benefits Quality Checking & Training Officer in Saffron Walden

We are seeking a Benefits Quality Checking and Training Officer to provide temporary maternity cover. The role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and quality of Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support assessments, supporting sound decision-making, minimising risk, and helping colleagues deliver an excellent service to residents.

You will carry out quality checks, support reconsiderations and appeals, maintain procedure notes, collate performance information and provide training to new and existing staff. The role also involves helping to identify improvements in processes, accuracy and customer service.

We are seeking someone with experience in a benefits environment, strong knowledge of benefits processes and systems, and excellent communication and organisational skills. Experience of training and performance improvement will be particularly valuable as the role progresses through the career grade.
