Utopian Professional Recruitment are excited to be working in partnership with our Glasgow based client who are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to join their team. Within this role you will oversee the maintenance, operation and improvement of their facility whilst ensuring their physical infrastructure is safe, efficient and aligned with organisational needs. This role includes managing building systems, coordinating maintenance activities, supervising contractors and staff, and driving sustainability and cost-efficiency initiatives. It is integral to the smooth functioning of their operations and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisation’s success and sustainability.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervise, direct, coordinate and plan essential central services such as maintenance, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling
- Strategise and oversee facility upgrades, repairs, and renovation projects to ensure timely and efficient execution
- Promptly address and resolve operational challenges and emergencies to maintain seamless facility operations
- Design and develop organisational policies relevant to the facilities department
- Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services and facilities expansion
- Draft and prepare tender documents for procuring services from new and existing contractors
- Analyze and compare costs for required goods and services to ensure optimal value for money
- Develop plans for future growth and improvements aligned with strategic business objectives
- Manage and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities
- Ensure the building adheres to health and safety standards and complies with all relevant legislation
- Coordinate and lead one or more teams to cover various areas of responsibility where necessary
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise
- Maintain approved contractor’s database ensuring all required documentation is received and filed
- Supervising front-of-house reception activities
To be considered for this opportunity, our client is looking for the following:
- Experience working within a Facility Management role
- Strong knowledge and/or understanding of manufacturing and/or engineering
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Approachable with the ability to liaise with people of all levels
- Provide guidance and foster a collaborative work environment
- Proficient with facilities management software tools
- Work closely with H&S Advisor; ISO qualifications would be advantageous

- Understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems)
- Understanding of building management systems (BMS) and smart building technologies
- Familiarity with energy efficiency practices and sustainability initiatives

Working Conditions:
As the Facilities Manager, you will operate in a dynamic environment, balancing office-based responsibilities with hands-on work across various building areas. You will frequently move throughout the facility to inspect building systems, address issues, and supervise maintenance or renovation activities. The Facilities Manager will operate on a rotating shift pattern to ensure weekend coverage. Shifts include Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday, rotating on a 2-weekly basis. Additionally, week or weekend coverage may be required for holidays, emergencies or critical issues.
