Utopian Professional Recruitment are delighted to be working with our Glasgow based client who are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a full time basis to cover a maternity contract for 18 months. This opportunity would suit an experienced Accounts professional who has a strong focus on payroll and is looking for their next step working within a large organisation.

You will be working within a great Finance team and will be responsible for providing a first class, efficient and effective service to support the wider business. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Process monthly Payroll information in a timely manner for submission to external bureau
  • Complete pension returns/submission
  • Complete payroll journal and other payroll related journals for month end
  • Processing payroll returns like P11D, P60 data and year-end tasks
  • Completing month end financial accounting routines and corporate reporting schedules
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Complete and file monthly VAT returns
  • Weekly maintenance of TB trial balance
  • Completion and filing of government returns e.g. national statistics etc
  • Processing of Accounts Payable Invoices
  • Ensure SOX compliance
  • Provide ad-hoc support as necessary and provide cover for other team members within the Accounting team as required
  • Execute weekly domestic and foreign payment runs
  • Execute monthly intercompany netting/settlements
  • Complete weekly cashflow forecasting to the central Treasury team
  • Complete Intercompany & Bank reconciliations (multi-currency)
  • Fixed Asset management, tagging and reconciliation

To be considered for this opportunity, our client does require the following background/experience:

  • Previous background working within a busy Finance or Accounts Department at a similar level
  • Experience using Oracle or similar
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to work towards deadlines
  • Great team player who is enthusiastic, works well as a team and is proactive
  • Naturally positive, hardworking and committed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a small successful team
