Work Location
To take ownership of elements of the preparation of actuarial data, models, assumptions, and results used for financial, regulatory, and internal reporting. Support the actuarial function in accordance with current best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Analytical Skills
- Interpreting quantitative and qualitative information to identify issues and produce solutions.
- Understanding complex financial information and large data sets to develop insights.
Actuarial Skills
- Producing and maintaining actuarial models that reflect real-world scenarios.
- Assisting with the development of long-term assumptions used within models.
- Ensuring the appropriateness of data sets used in calculations.
Communication Skills
- Collaborating with team members.
- Resolving queries from other teams and key stakeholders professionally and promptly.
- Working with the wider Finance team to improve communication and understanding of the impact of events or transactions.
Control Environment
- Maintaining controls to ensure quality and integrity of calculations.
- Challenging and improving controls, policies, and procedures within the team.
Key Requirements
Person Specification
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Desire to begin or continue studying for an actuarial qualification.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Persuasive communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Degree with a 2:1 or above in mathematics or a similar field.
- Experience with Excel/MS Office applications.
- Some experience with coding in R, Python, or SQL is advantageous.
