We put People First. It's all about you. We’re looking for a Product Manager who thrives in the fast-paced world of fintech and payments. You’re someone who can navigate complex legacy systems while keeping your eyes on the prize: a seamless, cost-effective experience for our customers. You’ll be a natural at building relationships with everyone from engineers to finance experts, constructively challenging the status quo to build a payments backbone that’s simple, powerful, and future-proof.

You’ll be joining our cross-functional payments squad, working alongside Engineering, UX, Data, and Marketing, as well as our Finance, Legal, and Partnerships teams. We’re a characterful bunch on a mission to simplify our complex payments ecosystem. Our goal is to build a cohesive strategy that makes paying for services painless for our customers and simple for our developers to manage. We view payments as a vital "enabler" for our unique bundled-service offering, and we want to make it as lean and powerful as possible.

You’ll drive a cohesive payments product strategy that balances cost-efficiency with an exceptional customer experience. By optimizing vendor fees and reducing transaction costs, you will help maximize UW's structural cost advantage.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Building and executing quarterly plans for your squad, owning key KPIs and OKRs.
  • Prioritising the feature backlog based on business impact and identifying any blockers.
  • Managing the full product lifecycle, from the first "lightbulb moment" to the final launch.
  • Partnering with Finance to develop our payment vendor strategy and improve ROI on every transaction.
  • Handling operational excellence, providing clear updates to leadership and managing cross-functional risks.
  • Ensuring compliance, making sure our systems meet high security and data standards.
  • Using customer research to define problems and validate that our solutions actually work.

Your skills and experience:

  • Payments Domain Expertise: A background in payments products management. Experience in multi-service or subscription environments is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in the full product lifecycle from discovery to launch.
  • Technical mastery in writing clear specifications and user acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to manage and develop vendor strategy and high-level relationships.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, data, and security standards.
  • Experience facilitating team ceremonies, such as backlog refinement and quarterly planning.
  • Strong commercial acumen to translate complex value metrics into a clear, prioritised roadmap.
  • An agile mindset to iterate quickly on experiments and scale what works.

So why pick UW? We’ve got big ambitions so there’s going to be plenty of challenges. There are also a lot of benefits:

  • Competitive salary: We benchmark against the industry and will share the salary openly during our first conversation.
  • Performance bonus: An annual discretionary bonus ranging from 15-40%.
  • Work-life balance: Flexible hybrid working. We offer an optional four-day working week (90% pay for 90% impact).
  • Work from anywhere: You can work abroad for up to three weeks, twice every tax year.
  • Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays (increasing with tenure), with the option to trade up to five days each year.
  • UW discounts: Save on our services and get a free Cashback Card.
  • Future planning: Matched-contribution pension scheme and life assurance (up to 4x salary).
  • Family first: Policies designed to help you and your family thrive.
  • Flexible benefits: An allowance for private health insurance, dental insurance, or gym membership.
  • Sabbaticals: An eight-week paid sabbatical after four years of service.
  • Growth: A dedicated learning and development budget and bi-annual promotion cycles.
  • Inclusion: Join belonging groups that help shape our culture.
  • Events: Company-wide celebrations including the ‘Great Big Get Together’ and our ‘Good Hearted Go-Getter Awards’.
